INGETEC | ECOLOGICAL ENGINEERING METHODOLOGY

Ecological engineering: Ingetec’s vision

What is ecological engineering?

Ecological engineering is a project management approach that places living systems at the heart of territorial planning. It draws on technical engineering skills to design and implement solutions for nature protection and/or ecosystem restoration, with the goal of enhancing ecosystem quality, functionality, and resilience.

In France, this method is guided by the AFNOR X10-900 standard (“Project methodology in support of ecosystems”), a national reference framework. It requires cross-disciplinary collaboration and a systemic approach that responds to both environmental concerns and territorial development needs — the very core of INGETEC’s mission since its creation in 1992.

Ecological Engineering at Ingetec

As illustrated by our references, ecological engineering is embedded in many of INGETEC’s projects, whether in natural or urban environments, and across both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.

Our expertise is based on a cross-disciplinary approach to environmental challenges, tailored to each project. This approach is coordinated by our ecological engineers and brings together the diverse technical skills of our multidisciplinary team.

Within this framework—aligned with the provisions of the French AFNOR X10-900 standard—the role of our ecological engineers is essential. Their in-depth knowledge of regulations, administrative procedures, and technical versatility enables them to guide the project through a process of ecosystem protection, preservation, and/or restoration.

Ingetec’s Commitments

méthodologie génie écologique rivière

Our main commitments in this approach:

  • Providing tailored advice adapted to the specific features and challenges of your project

  • Supporting you throughout the consultation process with relevant stakeholders (government bodies, associations, local communities, etc.)

  • Coordinating the contributions of technical and scientific experts involved in your project based on the identified environmental issues

  • Monitoring your project during both the design and implementation phases to ensure compliance with environmental protection principles

  • Identifying and proposing robust, innovative technical solutions that meet your needs

  • Ensuring compliance with current regulations, particularly those related to the French Environmental Code

Nature conservation and ecosystem restoration are core values that Ingetec promotes through the development of its activities.

This is why we are committed—beyond our professional duties—to actively contributing to the structuring, research, and development of the ecological engineering sector, through our membership in the Union of Ecological Engineering Professionals (UPGE).
