Developing comprehensive water strategies for local communities
Building on thorough site assessments, Ingetec designs stormwater management infrastructure and proposes planning solutions that strengthen community resilience to extreme rainfall events, safeguard people and property, and support the renaturation and restoration of natural ecosystems.
From hydraulic studies to aquatic ecosystems, water management at the core of our mission
Throughout every project, we work closely with municipalities and local authorities to design and implement comprehensive water management strategies.
In urban environments, we assess the feasibility of disconnecting stormwater from conventional sewer networks by promoting surface de‑paving and designing nature‑based solutions that go beyond the traditional “all‑pipe” approach.
In aquatic environments (rivers, lakes, wetlands…), we conduct diagnostics of waterways and riverbanks, identify obstacles, and propose avoidance and mitigation measures related to development projects. We work to ensure the restoration of hydro‑ecological continuity, create, restore, or reclaim wetlands and floodplain areas, and address riverbank erosion and population displacement.
In fluvial hydraulics, we define flood hazard scenarios to identify high‑risk areas and enable the assessment of hydraulic impacts of various projects. At the watershed scale, we conduct hydraulic performance diagnostics of structures, implement strategies to combat mudslides, and reduce soil erosion processes.
For road infrastructure projects, our work begins with a comprehensive assessment of existing conditions (roads, structures, watersheds) leading to the development of a road stormwater management system and the design of stream crossing structures and culverts.

Preserving water for local communities: a 21st‑century challenge
Today, the water cycle faces multiple pressures: the disappearance of wetlands, breaks in hydro‑ecological and sediment continuity, and increasingly frequent floods.
To address these challenges, Ingetec provides expertise ranging from preliminary studies (baseline assessments, diagnostics, solution recommendations, multi‑criteria analyses), to hydraulic studies, the development of water management plans for local authorities, and the full project management of works across different disciplines as part of an integrated approach to the entire water cycle.
Our goal is to restore proper ecological functioning, which is essential to sustaining the many functions of biodiversity and its uses — such as protecting water resources and biocenoses, preventing flood risks, and supporting pond replenishment.
